New and Changed Features
Islandora 6.x-13.1.x is a release the represents many small changes and back-end improvements rather than a major change in the functionality that users have become accustomed to. The underlying code is more stable and streamlined and a large number of bugs, both major and minor, have been addressed (see Bug Fixes below). Four new modules are included as part of this release, adding new tools and functionality to Islandora:
The Islandora Autocomplete module allows users to define auto-complete URL's to be used in a Drupal forms in conjuction with the #autocomplete property of form elements. By using the Islandora Autocomplete module, users with appropriate permissions can define and upload .csv files that will fill one or more fields of a given Islandora form when a user begins typing. Islandora autocomplete is case sensitive. For more details on this module and how to use it, please visit Chapter 5: Autocomplete Module
The XACML Editor module allows users with sufficient permissions to configure XACML policy on a per-collection or per-object basis through a graphical user interface instead of by writing the policies in XML. For more details on this module and how to use it, please visit Chapter 5: XACML Editor.
The Islandora Workflow module implements a generic workflow around Fedora objects. For more details on this module and how to use it, please visit Chapter 5: Islandora Workflow
The File Information Tool Set (FITS) identifies, validates, and extracts technical metadata for various file formats. It wraps several third-party open source tools, normalizes and consolidates their output, and reports any errors. For information on how to install and configure this module, please visit Chapter 5: FITS
Solr has seen many improvements in this release, including sorting, a tool which replaces the date range facets with a slider and graph and other improvements to date facets, and a host of under-the-hood updates. The following JIRA tickets provide more detail on all the Solr updates in this release:
Most modules have been updated for this release, but any that have not been updated will retain their version from the last release. They have been provided in this list, but if you already have latest version installed you need not replace it. Please follow the Drupal.org guidelines for updating modules if you are updating from a previous version of Islandora.
Be sure to follow the Drupal.org guidelines mentioned above when updating your modules. In particular, you need to completely remove and replace existing module directories, and run update.php after updating.
