Meeting Schedule and Attendance
DSpace Developer meetings are a time when Committers and interested Developers can discuss new software features, upcoming releases of DSpace software, and generally plan out the roadmap of DSpace. All meetings are public. We welcome anyone and everyone to attend, speak their opinions or just listen in on the discussions. Please note that we archive all discussions (see Meeting Archives), as a service for those who are unable to attend.
DSpace Developer meetings take place on the following schedule:
- Every Wednesday at 20:00 UTC in #duraspace IRC channel
- All meetings are held for 1 hour (although, admittedly, discussion sometimes extends beyond that)
See the world clock to determine the meeting time where you live. If you are unsure how to connect to IRC, see our list of IRC Resources & Clients
This meeting schedule is also available via the DuraSpace Public Events Calendar (iCal, RSS Feed).
Meeting topics often include:
- Recent updates on upcoming DSpace releases, bug fixes or features
- Reviewing of recent reported issues/bugs/feature requests (see JIRA Cleanup Sessions for more info)
- Occasionally we vote or make decisions on upcoming DSpace technology plans/roadmap (see Developer Voting Procedures for more info)
If you are unable to attend a meeting, please feel free to add your own notes/comments to the meeting's wiki page.
Developers Meeting on Weds, March 7, 2012
Agenda
Regular Items
- JIRA Catch-Up – starting with issue DS-956
General Reminders
- The Deadline for the DSpace User Group proposals for OR12 is end of day TOMORROW. If you are doing something unique in your DSpace (and I know all the committers are), consider submitting a proposal for a talk – just a paragraph or two is fine!
Discussion Topics
- GSoC 2012 DSpace Ideas - We have a total of 0 (zero) ideas up so far for DSpace. That's no good!
- GitHub Migration – it is time to start planning next steps! Who wants to help?
- Virtual Summit - any more feedback?
- Very successful meeting, with a nice list of "Actionable Takeaways"
- Any thoughts on how many times would we like to hold this Summit per year? Once (Jan/Feb)? Twice (Jan and May/June)? Three times (Jan, May & Sept)?
- 3.0 Release
- We still need a "team leader" for our Release Team.
- Current Release Team (all volunteered in Fall): Hardy P, Sands F, Kim S, Robin T
- Some potential features (from the Summit)
- Versioning! (from Dryad project)
- External Identifier Service (again from Dryad Project)
- We still need a "team leader" for our Release Team.
- Other topics?
Additional Ongoing Topics
- Brainstorming Features/Changes for 3.0. Can we work towards development teams around any of these projects?
- Larger DSpace projects which seem to have a lot of recent support:
- Moving towards a Common "Business Logic" / Business Services API. (I.e. avoiding duplication of business logic in all UIs)
- Metadata For All (i.e. metadata on all objects), SubTopic: Getting us up-to-date how we use Dublin Core / DCMI. (Support from DCAT)
- Other DSpace projects receiving mention recently
- Migrate Search and Browse to DSpace Discovery
- "Change which UIs come out-of-the-box" (and which are optionally installed later)
- Move configurations to DB or similar (so they can be managed/edited from Admin UI)
- Context Guided Ingest (or Item Type based submissions)
- Other Development Proposals
- Larger DSpace projects which seem to have a lot of recent support:
Individual Status Updates
If you have status items to report, please enter them below at least 1 hour before the meeting starts.
Peter Dietz - Has DSpace sending UsageEvents to elastic-search-usage-event-listener, and has a display page that can return hits from a query to a page
