Agenda & Notes

  • Ontology improvement priorities, and release planning
  • CERIF2VIVO
    • https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19vmYxsyawNi3W0JkToCc7CDUvjTSluoULPBsAgb-nEU/edit#gid=0 → currently Brian is reviewing, will be finished on
    • Melanie will propose the next steps in the next Ontology IG meeting (RLM, RDF Mapping Language)
    • Goals
      • Machine-readable mappings
      • ultimate goal to do live-mappings of data, could lead to problems when there are in-exact matches
      • Approach should be reused for other mappings like KDSF, skos turned out to work well for matching
  • Projects in the VIVO / Hercules Ontology
    • Hercules could be closer to CERIF, works smoother with CERIF
    • Rolf listened to Eurocris presentation on Hercules. Hercules puts projects more in the center, allows a richer description of projects.
    • Representation of projects as an additional focus of representation of research
    • Idea would be to allow different angles to look at research information (projects, institutions, persons, concepts etc.) - one of the main reasons to work with knowledge graphs / ontologies → this idea should be put into the VIVO marketing
    • It should be possible to pull some improvements from Hercules back to the VIVO ontolology, but there should be a closer look if properties etc. are used in the way it is usually done in a VIVO context
    • Rolf will set up a scaffolding for a way forward until the next IG meeting
      • What areas need work?
      • What needs to be evaluated?
      • What do we need to find out to start the process?
      • Rolf will talk to Salm & Georgy, too
  • No labels
