Melanie will propose the next steps in the next Ontology IG meeting (RLM, RDF Mapping Language)
Goals
Machine-readable mappings
ultimate goal to do live-mappings of data, could lead to problems when there are in-exact matches
Approach should be reused for other mappings like KDSF, skos turned out to work well for matching
Projects in the VIVO / Hercules Ontology
Hercules could be closer to CERIF, works smoother with CERIF
Rolf listened to Eurocris presentation on Hercules. Hercules puts projects more in the center, allows a richer description of projects.
Representation of projects as an additional focus of representation of research
Idea would be to allow different angles to look at research information (projects, institutions, persons, concepts etc.) - one of the main reasons to work with knowledge graphs / ontologies → this idea should be put into the VIVO marketing
It should be possible to pull some improvements from Hercules back to the VIVO ontolology, but there should be a closer look if properties etc. are used in the way it is usually done in a VIVO context
Rolf will set up a scaffolding for a way forward until the next IG meeting
