The Fedora Program is built around a global community of engaged users who collaborate to support and sustain the project. Community members contribute a wide range of perspectives, representing many different use cases and levels of experience with digital preservation and repository technologies. Together, this shared knowledge forms a strong network where users learn from one another, solve problems collaboratively, and help shape the future of Fedora.
Participation is open to everyone. Whether you want to join a team, share feedback, or simply listen in and learn, there are many ways to get involved. To get started, explore our communication channels or contact the Program Manager at fedora@lyrasis.org
Fedora Program Team
The Fedora Program is overseen by paid staff members who are responsible for the daily operational tasks required for maintaining all aspects of the community. They provide on-going community engagement, coordination, technical support and continued development of the core software. Through the Organizational Home agreement between Fedora and Lyrasis, Fedora Program Team members are employed by Lyrasis, but their salaries are entirely paid through contributions to the Fedora Membership Program.
Currently the Fedora Program employs the following:
- Full Time Program Manager - Arran Griffith (arran.griffith@lyrasis.org)
- Program Developer (0.8 FTE) - Dan Field (dan.field@lyrasis.org)
Fedora Governance Group
Fedora Governance is responsible for the strategic leadership of the Fedora Program, its community, and associated technology. This group is responsible for leading the overall vision & strategy. A complete list of current sitting Fedora Governance Group members can be found on the wiki under Current Governance Terms.
See Roles and Responsibilities for more about the Fedora Leadership Group.
Fedora Committers
Fedora Committers are the main group of individuals responsible for support, maintenance and on-going development of the Fedora software. While all contributions are welcome in the Fedora community, it is the Committers who review code submissions, manage and approve PR's, engage in development decision-making and serve as the stewards of the Fedora codebase. Current, active Committers can be found on the wiki under Fedora Committers.
Technical Team
The Fedora Technical Team is a group of developers who have contributed to the project in some way through their regular involvement in technical discussions, community support, documentation development and/or bug fixes or feature development. Many of the team members are Fedora committers. The Tech Team is also responsible for on-going maintenance of current versions of Fedora and associated tooling.
