1)      DSpace Foundation Sponsorship Program Update

a.       Making progress – we have 16 sponsors so far – you can check out the list on the website under the Sponsorship tab (http://www.dspace.org/index.php/Supporters/Sponsors.html)

Helpful Links (questions were raised during the SPARC RM mtg about some info/resources available on www.dspace.org):

DSpace instance list: http://www.dspace.org/index.php/DSpace-Repositories/Repositories-Alphabetical.html

DSpace website forums: http://www.dspace.org/index.php/Forum/

Training: http://www.dspace.org/index.php/Training-Materials/DSpace-Training-Materials.html

The DSpace LIVE CD (allows you to download a version of DSpace to play with – for example, you use it to play w/Manakin) is under the “Overall DSpace” section.

2)      SPARC DSpace Repository Manager Mtg Update (see full meeting notes at http://groups.google.com/group/dspace-global-outreach-committee/web/sparc-dspace-repository-mgr-mtg-notes) VAL TO POST SPARC MTG NOTES ON THE PUBLIC DSPACE DGOC WIKI, MICHELE WORKING ON POSTING MANAKIN TRAINING VIDEO

a.       General feedback on the SPARC DSpace RM mtg:

                                                               i.      Rea: inconclusive - # of communication channels, no clear preference, need more targeted communications

ii.      Alvin: have better sense of what people need, thought mtg needed more time, BoF would have been good

iii.      Val: RMs seem to have a need to connect/network better – how can we help facilitate? Also, several RMs seemed willing to help moderate forum discussions (Shane Beers) or hosting regional user mtgs (Ronee Francis, Lois J. Widmer)

3)      Identify Next DGOC Projects - What is the most important priority for DGOC in your mind? What things don’t exist that should?

                                                               i.      Develop a ‘communications plan/strategy’ to included outline of various ways RMs can get involved in the community including

1.       LISTSERV - when to use which list

2.       Repoman - general repository issues

3.       Forum - on dspace.org site, need to figure out how to draw RMs to the forum, maybe datamine FAQ from the LISTSERV to seed the forum discussions

4.      Social networking - such as Ning.com, FriendFinder, Crowdvine, needs to have the ability to tag interests/experience, ideal if we use something that RMs already use or figure out how to draw them to the site CHRISTINA AND ELIN REVIEWING OPTIONS, WILL GET BACK TO DGOC IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS

5.       Try to integrate new communication options (like a forum and social networking) – so that RMs don’t have to remember where to go for what or risk low/no participation

6.       VAL TO OUTLINE A PLAN BY WEEK OF DEC 8 AND DGOC TO PROVIDE FEEDBACK

ii.      Create a live, browsable database of DSpace instances

1.       include info like platform version, operating system, customizations, upgrades, integrations w/environment, hardware requirements, UNIX version, POSTGRESS version

a.       Determined the best way to accumulate data would be to develop a survey LEONIE STARTED LIST OF SURVEY QUESTIONS ON DEC 2

2.       Make anonymous or have RM contact names?

3.      MIKE LOOKING INTO POSSIBLE RESOURCES/TECHNICAL HELP FROM SETON HALL

4.       University of Toronto and University of Rochester student joint practicum – may be able to help w/research REA TO LOOK INTO THE POTENTIAL

4)      Website RM page – should we have one? DIDN”T COVER THIS

5)      Jira Walk Through – new feature request/issue tracking system new feature request/issue tracking system DIDN”T COVER THIS
