DSpace Consortium Germany

Die internationale DSpace-Community organisiert sich unter dem Dach von DuraSpace, einer US-amerikanischen gemeinnützigen Organisation (duraspace.org), die als mitgliederfinanzierte Einrichtung verschiedene Open-Source-Projekte, darunter DSpace (dspace.org), unterstützt. DSpace steht als Open-Source-Software jedem frei zur Verfügung. Zur Unterstützung der Entwicklung von DSpace sammelt das Konsortium jährlich finanzielle Beiträge ein, die an DuraSpace weitergeleitet werden.
Mit dem Ziel, ihre Interessen zur Weiterentwicklung von DSpace in die internationale DSpace-Community einzubringen, organisieren sich die deutschen DSpace-Anwender im DSpace-Konsortium  Deutschland.

The international DSpace community is organized under the umbrella of DuraSpace, a US-American non-profit organization (duraspace.org), which is funded as a member of the Setup supported various open source projects, including DSpace (dspace.org). DSpace is freely available to everyone as open source software. To support the development of DSpace, the consortium collects annual financial contributions, which are forwarded to DuraSpace.

With the aim of integrating their interests in the further development of DSpace into the international DSpace community, the German DSpace users organise themselves in the DSpace consortium Germany.

Vertretung gegenüber DuraSpace / Representation to DuraSpace

Das DSpace Konsortium Deutschland ist aktuell Platinum Mitglied und damit in der DSpace Leadership Group vertreten.
The DSpace Consortium Germany is a Platinum member and thus represented in the DSpace Leadership Group.

DuraSpace gewährt dem Konsortium die Mitbestimmungsrechte, die einem normalen Mitglied gewährt würden, das den Mitgliedsbeitrag in gleicher Höhe wie das gesamte Konsortium leisten würde. Diese werden im Konsortium gebündelt und von einer Vertreterin bzw. einem Vertreter des Konsortiums für alle Mitglieder gemeinsam wahrgenommen. Wenn das Konsortium entsprechende Beiträge sammelt, können somit Interessen deutscher DSpace-Anwender vergleichbar mit den Rechten einer DuraSpace-Gold- oder DuraSpace-Platin-Mitgliedschaft vertreten werden.  Die Vertreterin bzw. der Vertreter des Konsortiums wird von der TU Berlin in Rücksprache mit den Mitgliedern ernannt.

DuraSpace grants the consortium the co-determination rights that would be granted to a normal member who would pay the membership fee in the same amount as the entire consortium. These are bundled in the consortium and jointly administered by a representative of the consortium for all members. If the consortium collects corresponding contributions, the interests of German DSpace users can be represented comparable to the rights of a DuraSpace Gold or DuraSpace Platinum membership.  The representative of the consortium will be appointed by the TU Berlin in consultation with the members.

Mitgliedschaft / Membership

Der Beitritt zum Konsortium ist jeweils zum 01. Juli und 01. Januar eines Jahres möglich.
Membership of the consortium is possible on 01 July and 01 January of each year.
