- 2008 Fedora 3 was released: relatively stable, stored objects and their relationships on disk (key selling point)
- 2014 Fedora 4 was released: transition from XML to describe object to RDF; entirely new infrastructure (Modeshape); created some challenges to migrate from Fedora 3 to Fedora 4
- 2021 Fedora 6 was released: introduction of OCFL to store all repository data on disk once again

- Governance Model: Roles and Responsibilities
- Meetings: typically once per quarter
- Important communication channels:
- Google mailing list
- Leaders Slack channel
- One of the most important role of Leadership Group members: advocate for Fedora 6
Current affairs Este Pope
- Decline in some of the larger memberships recently
- But also new organizations becoming members
- Important for the nearer future of Fedora:
- Increase adoption of Fedora 6 (bring existing Fedora 3/4/5 users to Fedora 6, bring in new users)
- Modernize organizational structures for the Fedora project, modernize membership model
- Other revenue sources?
- Find people for open positions:
- Product management
- Technical lead
Governance Model Considerations Arran Griffith
Leadership group: 14 members currently (based on the number of project members)
Steering group: fixed at 9 members (all part of the Leadership group as well, because steering members are voted out of leadership group members)
Membership levels: https://www.lyrasis.org/membership/Pages/duraspace-membership.aspx
Items to discuss:
- Alternative organizational models (big overlap between the two groups):
Suggestions:- reduce number of members in steering
- merge steering and leadership
- combine leadership group meetings with the leaders/committers call
