Draft notes in Google-Doc

  1. Announcements
    1. https://theknow.denverpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/AFP_1E53DW.jpg (thanks for the reference Benjamin)
    1. Getting release candidate published
    2. I18n:
      1. Could focus on working on integrating as much as possible of this work into core VIVO
      2. Pretty close to getting the code in an integration point, but not a small task since there are bugs that need to be addressed
    3. Is it possible to pull this work through in the next month with help from others?
    1. Andrew makes us sad by telling us that he is leaving his VIVO role in Lyrasis.  Off to greener pastures!
    2. Andrew tells us he appreciates us
    3. February 12th: last day here at Lyrasis/VIVO
    4. February 15th: HARVARD!!! (sorry HAAAHVAHD!)
    5. Ski joring
    6. VIVO work
  2. TIB/UQAM - Kafka initiative updates -2020-12-16 - Special Topic - VIVO Kafka Ingest
    1. Michel: By next week, meeting to discuss next steps
    2. Need to decide internally what are the priorities
      1. Viable instance for production first or Kafka work?
      1. UQAM: Kafka ingest is one priority along with VIVO development/deployment for production
    3. Rachid
      1. Maybe advance release of production before being completely functional with Kafka
    1. Interest around the “door” introduced by the Kafka pattern
    2. Any additional work or plans in this area?
  3. Community mailing list
    1. Any additional thoughts on
    2. Brian will send follow up message regarding getting additional log details
    1. Any news, Benjamin Gross?
      1. Does not appear so
    1. Sounds like "Advanced Role Management"
    2. Santhosh had brought this up and says the feedback regarding configuration is helpful
    1. CJ had scripting that performs queries.  Eventually garbage collection does take effect.  Asking JVM options that people use.  May be as simple as Tomcat configuration
    2. Brian: Interesting to know which version of JAVA.  People sometimes forget to set heap size (xmx or what have you). Wondering if API updates lead to indexing.  Benjamin may have had similar issue around heap usage related to indexer.
      1. Getting info on settings and seeing how CJ is observing the problem
      1. Benjamin: CJ says takes 3 days for memory usage to go down. Has not tried such a similar timeframe (let it run for 3 days)
      2. Perhaps try to see if heap usage affected by manually indexing (and try out updates after shutting off the indexer)
      3. Andrew: 3 day high memory use seems a bit strange
      4. Brian: Also depends on how the memory usage is being measure since the measurement may be higher than the actual heap use.  Still, Tomcat does crash in CJ’s case.
      5. Andrew: Has used Eclipse tooling to dump the heap, and then analysis tooling can be run on the heap dump
      6. Brian: Could ask if willing to share heap dump
    3. Would be good to know the configuration options being used generally
    1. Error when trying to link a person with a grant
    2. Images are not displayed after migration
    3. Can we create custom roles in Vivo
    4. Tomcat Garbage Collection & Memory Usage
  4. Advanced Role Management sprint -2020 - VIVO Sprints
    1. Suggested having a sprint, potentially the week of February 8th
    1. Is there interest and what do people think about timeline?
    2. Feb 8th pretty close to sprint so may have to be delayed
    3. A future time will probably need to be set for this particular sprint
      1. Santhosh: Interested in helping out.
    1. Would require additional work to bring it up to date with the current code
    2. TIB is using the advanced role management code in production.  Christian is interested in bringing this functionality into the core base
    3. Recording on role management in development recordings
    4. Question for the team:
  5. 1.11.2 patch release - likely not going to happen
    1. Issue 1929 still outstanding
  6. Working towards 1.12
    1. VIVO-1918 - i18n: Reload firsttime files on start-up if changed In Review
      1. Andrew: Changes in UI should take precedence
      1. Benjamin Gross / Brian Lowe : any final comments?
      2. Benjamin: Is description of changed files correct?
    2. VIVO-1934 - i18n: Limit i18n .ftl files to minimal set In Review
    3. VIVO-1937 - i18n: Remove fr_CA .ftl files that only differ by quotes Closed
      1. Ready for merge
    4. VIVO-1944 - i18n - Exception when editing Page name Closed
      1. Very small change
    5. VIVO-1946 - Update references to Researcher ID In Review
      1. Any further discussion before merge?
      2. Updates references to researcher id (Clarivate) and removing references to ISI and Thomson Reuters
    1. VIVO-1914 - i18n: Document how to upgrade existing site to use new i18n functionality Open
    1. VIVO-1910 - VIVO sitemap.xml broken Open
      1. Brian: Saw results that showed that items were discovered but not indexed.  Google may decide a particular page is not worth indexing
      2. Don has seen similar behavior when he was trying to add researcher terms
      3. Benjamin has seen that search terms were indexed for a separate instance, so it appears that the sitemap itself is not the main reason for specific pages not being indexed
      1. Traditional robots.txt file. Not sure why this is broken
    2. VIVO-1929 - Site Admin users cannot create new individuals via the GUI OpenTickets that should be close to merge
