What's a satellite call and why was it introduced?

There are DSpace repository managers all across the globe. In the past, DCAT experienced that one monthly conference call in a single timeslot did not give everyone the opportunity to participate. At the same time, DCAT did not want to split itself entirely into different, regionally focussed subgroups. This is why the concept of satellite calls was introduced in August 2014.

Aside from the monthly main call at 15.00/16.00 UTC, there will be one satellite call in a timeslot that alternates on a monthly basis. Satellite calls at 07:00 UTC are meant to accommodate repository managers from the pacific, asia, africa and middle east regions, while 20:00 UTC satellite calls make it easier for US West Coast attendees to participate.

Which of the calls should I attend?

The same meeting agenda applies for the main call and satellite calls. Apart from the fact that you can discuss with different people, there is little reason why you would want to participate in both the main and satellite calls during the same month.
