This approach of using Competency Questions for VIVO search filters and facets was based on research done by Dr. José Francisco Salm Jr. at the Foundation of Science and Technology in Portugal and the Brazilian Funding Agency CNPq. His research mixed ontology engineering techniques with filter and facet for a VIVO application instance. Dr. Salm research also addressed a new designed for user interaction that explores competency questions and thus enables users with low level experience to extract information based on their understanding about the competency question.  

What are possible compentency questions which could be used in a survey for search filters and facets?

• Which researchers are involved in AI research at my institution?
• How many publications did the Faculty of Linguistics publish in 2022?
• Which projects does our institution have with institutions in Ukraine?
