Notes
Updates
- Ted started at Thomson Reuters this week and will be working at least in part with Converis
- Work has begun on 1.8.1 release
- Debra will be attending a conference of university administrators and librarians in Santiago, Chile and the group has requested information of VIVO, so she will work with Mike
- Mike reports that his meetings in Germany are going well
- Brian Lowe will give the keynote address at a workshop in Germany (TIB Hanover, September 9) in September
Conference (Melissa)
- Things are finally pretty well on track – program finalized and is balanced and looks very good
- Making final arrangements for the VIP dinner, steering meetings, etc.
- Ideally we would pull in another sponsor at this point still and a few more registrations
- The registrations are hitting target but were mostly earlier, so revenue is slightly lower
Working group calls – should we put them on the same track
- We have implementation and development, ontology, engagement & outreach, and apps&tools call
- We should ensure that all our calls are well attended
- Should we have one or more canonical times per week but rotate which calls fill the slots?
- Do we want to do anything before Graham joins?
- Julia – just started the outreach and engagement call and have had only one – are on Tuesdays at 1 pm
- Melissa – need more coordination of the ontology with a place to have the ontology up for community work and comment
- still waiting for the supplement on the CTSA for the SciENCV work
- if we receive it, we will then have money to hire people to work on infrastructure
- try to have a face-to-face at the conference
- Dean – hearing for the moment that we'll keep going as we are and sort out individual working groups – perhaps revisit when Graham starts
Apps & Tools working group – Ted has talked with Chris and Mike Conlon due to the change in his role – no change for the moment, since his new employer is willing to have him continue – Chris and Ted will go forward together
