In order to install Islandora, you will have to install (at minimum) Drupal and Fedora installed. The next four sections will lead you through the installation of Dependencies, Drupal, Fedora, and the Islandora Module. These instructions assume an *nix environment. Our current Windows support status is available here.

These instructions are intended for use in concert with Drush, a command line shell and scripting interface for Drupal that we highly recommend for installation and development for Islandora. To install Drush, please consult the specific instructions for installing Drush on different platforms on Drupal.org.
User who do not want to install Drush can still install Islandora using the general instructions for each component:
The following resources must be present on the server where you plan to install Islandora. Each of these items is detailed in the relevant section of the installation process; this is merely meant as a quick checklist to review the overall set of resources you may have to install on your server:
- PHP 5.3 (minimum)
- Apache web server.
- A relational database management system (MySQL recommended)
- Java SE Development Kit (JDK) 6
- An application server. Fedora includes the Tomcat Application Server.
While Islandora may function with older or newer versions of any of its dependencies, it is currently developed and tested with the following:
- Fedora 3.6.2
- Gsearch 2.6
- Solr 3.6.2
