Notes

  1. Announcements
    1. Office office hours next week. Arran sent reminder with link to Google doc (Q&A) so people who can't make it can still enter questions to be answered during the session. The document will remain accessible afterward. We'll try to do this monthly at alternating times for U.S. / non-U.S. time zones.
  2. Pop-up/Other topics
    1. Slovenian Public Archival Service conversation – interested in very specialized use cases including AI-supported search tools, use of blockchain, etc.
    2. Please review migration toolkit if time permits before deadline.
    3. Next release status: Discussion of whether any in-progress work should be completed prior to a release – not too much currently in progress. Also, do we want a Fedora-only release or also releases of validator/migration tools? (Seems like Fedora-only is okay for now) Is next release 6.3.1 or 6.4 – preventing concurrent updates is more of a decision than a bug fix, so decided on 6.4. Thomas will be out of office for the next couple of weeks – hoping for mid-March release, but late March would be okay as well. March 20 was agreed upon as a good target date. Demian offered to help test. Thomas can start testing beginning March 6.
    4. Tools for binary resources: Demian uses Tika indexing triggered by the HTTP feature of the Camel toolbox. Thomas will reach out to Demian for more information. There is no current wiki page about binary indexing, so maybe we can develop a recommendation. Doron is also interested. Demian is willing to present on his solution at the open office hours in late March; will coordinate with Arran, Thomas and Doron to make sure the event occurs at a mutually workable time.
    5. There was brief discussion of a URL encoding / SPARQL update issue that Demian raised on Slack. Dan is investigating.
  3. Migration Updates
    1. We received an update that Saxon Academy of Sciences and Humanities is on Fedora 6 now; Arran has followed up to inquire about new details.
  4. Updates on:
    1. Open tickets
      1. FCREPO-3874 - on Jared's list, not started yet
      2. FCREPO-3873 - Mike is working on this for the validator
      3. FCREPO-3866 - Mike thinks we need to fix null pointer exceptions that can occur and also document the limitations of archival groups in Fedora. Mike will open two new tickets to separate out these tasks.
    2. In-progress tickets:
      1. FCREPO-3871 - documentation ticket where Dan is collecting tests that are flapping (leave open for now)
      2. FCREPO-3870 - there is actually no indication that bagit-java is deprecated; Jared will add notes to ticket to see if submitter remains concerned about this (priority was previously downgraded to Trivial). Demian can follow up with a developer at LC if that would be helpful.
      3. FCREPO-3830 - Mike is working on this (in progress)
      4. FCREPO-3868 - Dan's team started testing this, but hasn't been able to make progress recently (intends to when time permits)
      5. FCREPO-3834 - Dan has a proof of concept implemented; needs to work on tests
      6. FCREPO-3840 - Dan has completed first part (UI banner with config option; documentation needed); moving on to API link headers next; third sub-ticket (FCREPO-3842) has open question: do we still want a stats collection service, or is this replaced by the registration link? Recollection is that stats collection service was not a popular option and is not required to move forward; we can close FCREPO-3842.
    3. In review tickets:
      1. FCREPO-3867 - already merged, but Jared has a PR that will be assigned to this ticket to improve upon existing work
      2. FCREPO-3847 - merged today
      3. FCREPO-3839 - part of FCREPO-3840, discussed above
  5. New tickets
    1. None
  6. Backlog tickets
    1. None discussed
