The newly established DSpace Development Fund supports the development of new features prioritized by DSpace Governance. For a list of planned features see the fund wiki page.

Title (Goal)Admin UI - DSpace should accommodate basic index normalization: e.g. "case-insensitive browse" and "do not index punctuation"

Story (A paragraph or two describing what happens)Currently, only the deprecated Lucene browse system supports case-insensitive browse indexes. The current implementation of Discovery does not support this functionality. DSpace should support some basics of index normalization, so it is not completely dependent on metadata quality to have a usable search and browse index. See Unable to locate Jira server for this macro. It may be due to Application Link configuration. for more information. Just wanted to be sure this feature is on the road map for the next version of DSpace.

  1. Likely related to Admin UI - Customise which metadata fields to facet upon, search upon and Admin UI - Configure and manage browse indexes.  This seems like something we'd hopefully be able to achieve via more Admin UI tools regarding managing indexes/indexing. (Though obviously we'll need to investigate implementation options for how to achieve these use cases.)
