Notes

Updates

  • Strategic Vision Document will be finalized by Agustina this week and then sent to Steering

Communication Piece

  • Reviewed the communication piece draft
  • Suggestion to include time line in communication piece – what to expect when?
    • Create a timeline of key activities and deliverables from now until Oct-Dec (Agustina, Holger)
  • Suggestion to include Tim and Holger's presentation in this piece; anything mentioned at that presentation that hasn't yet been included here
  • More topics and work will come up in the coming months for this group
  • Suggestion to include timeline that the work the technology group is doing now
  • Discussion around "how do we make sure this doesn't happen again?" – suggestion to include something about that in the communication piece
    • Comment that the reason DSpace-CRIS came up in the first place because DSpace didn't address needed use cases
    • To avoid forking again, we need to make sure that DSpace covers needed use cases
  • Comment that this merger will not achieve modularization; it will be a step in that direction, but will not achieve it
    • It will also not address the problem of Service Providers moving more quickly; we need to find a way to bring in code more rapidly
  • We will bring this to Steering for review at today's meeting (Steering meeting)

Feedback Form

  • We need to answer their feedback if we put something out like this
  • Discussed the suggestion to remove the link to the feedback form and don't ask for feedback
  • Suggestion to include demographics
    • Are you using DSpace? DSpace-CRIS?
    • Type of repository? Academic?
    • Always provide option to choose "other"

Communication Plan

  • Suggestion to have separate events in Spanish, different languages
  • Discussed the question of frequency of sending updates to the community
    • Base it on "as needed" – once we have a number of questions that we can answer
    • It will become clearer in the coming weeks and months what else we need to share

  • No labels
