Meeting Notes
Agenda #1 | DSpace/CRIS update (Paulo Lopes on behalf of Joao) | DSpace/CRIS update (Paulo Lopes on behalf of Joao) Regarding the next Steering Committee meeting, this link is a summary with the status of the work done by WG Entities: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eF123YvA-4quQQY4z4JzL8L-_LULmyF2m_rsYO_2_A0/edit?usp=sharing At the last WG meeting for DSPACE cris, Andrea Bollini shared one recent presentation of DSpace-CRIS: https://zenodo.org/record/824979#.Wfc9Fmi0Pcs Paulo gave a presentation which included a brief update of the work done by the CRIS WG (named DSpace Entities WG). They’ve had 2 meetings to date. They’d like to promote the group to others to get more members. Maybe DSpace SC should invite someone from 4Science (Andrea?) to get an idea of the model. This has also been discussed by CINECA and Sigma. We need to engage with users of DSpace CRIS to see what they’d like to do with it. Hong Kong University uses it quite actively and are heavy users. Claire will mention it to her group and users as well at the upcoming DSpace users meeting in the UK. |
Agenda #2 | Update on European Networking and Membership (Michele) | Michele had good meetings in UK, Italy, and Germany. The Universities were interested in being more engaged. CINECA has decided to become a member of DuraSpace. There was an interest in having cross-regional user meetings organized by DuraSpace. There is a German Slack channel as well as a British Slack channel. They want DuraSpace to coordinate Users Meetings to everyone can know what is going on and happening. There are 2 different strategies when dealing with prospective members:
It would be good to have a 1st year offering to broaden initial participation. Even the Australian RSP want to know more about opportunities and collaborations. Role of DuraSpace is important. It can facilitate the flow of information. We should offer a national or quasi-formal user group status with some basic member benefits. All different slack channels have cross regional conversations. Be flexible and allow a way to be members, outreach to UK friends and hear them out. Have someone from DuraSpace speak with the UK consortium. Deb can plan a trip to UK and coordinate with Claire. |
Agenda #3 | Membership Spring Meeting | Consider co-locating with ARL or CNI. Need a day and a half. How should we divide up those days? Especially to get higher execs (Deans, Directors etc.) involved |
