Title: Create a tutorial that explains how to create Fedora objects that organize a set of cultural heritage images.

Requestor: Thorny Staples, Director of Community Strategy and Alliances and Director of the Fedora Project, DuraSpace

Community Area: The Fedora Project

Description: This project be to create a set of Fedora objects that organize a small set of digital images of cultural heritage sites in two different ways in a repository, both as a set of photographs by a particular photographer and as documention for a few historical buildings. In addtion to creating the objects, you would write a on-line tutorial on the DuraSpace Confluence-based wiki that explains the process of doing so. I would provide some training for the person who takes on the project on Fedora basics, content modeling and the use of the web client to create the objects.

This would involve creating a collection object for the photographer's works, "work" objects for a few buildings and a set of  image objects that would be added to our cloud-based demonstration repository. The tutorial would be added to our documentation. The work would include creating content model objects, some metadata files,  and creating  VRA-Core files for the collection and works that each put image objects in a context. I would supply a set of master images that can be freely used. If you are interested in this project, contact me (tstaples at duraspace dot org).
