For Attendees:
Thank you for your interest in the Fedora Migration Workshop (https://ipres2024.pubpub.org/pub/9n3py8rz/release/1?readingCollection=ef524688) which is to be held at the iPres Conference on Monday 16th of September in the Loveling Building (https://ipres2024.pubpub.org/venues#about-loveling-building).I look forward to meeting you all and hearing all about your migration plans. In order that we can hit the ground running on the day, the following recommendations would be beneficial:
- Some sample data that you wish to migrate. Even if you don’t want to try a migration on the day, it can be useful for any questions you may have on migration use cases and best practice.
- If you wish to try and migrate some sample date of your own, please bring a laptop with the relevant tooling for your version of Fedora. More information on the migration pathways can be found at (https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/FEDORA6x/Migrate+to+Fedora+6)
- Your laptop will need Java 11 and enough spare disk space to store roughly double the data that you are bringing along with you. Dont worry if you don’t have much space, we can always try on a subset.
We appreciate that not everyone will be in a position to bring data or a suitable laptop. We will still be more than happy to answer your questions and provide feedback on our experiences working with other institutions and their migration stories. This can be treated as a brief consultation session, although there mill be multiple attendees, each with their one migration stories to discuss, so time will need to be shared between everyone as equally as possible. In addition. If any of you have questions you would like to ask beforehand, please do send them in advance so that we can prepare our answers as best as we can.
