Discovery (WP3)

  • Expect to include Works. Need to do something beyond what we already have live from the OCLC concordance data.

    • Steven and Huda looked at IMDB-id.loc.gov-wikidata-Catalog connections
    • Huda implemented a demo bringing in movie information from IMDB, also looked at finding related moves (e.g derived from Dune book). There is a lack of clear identifiers for movies in the data. Jason points out that Andy Horbal would be good to discuss how we might best to use external movie data
    • Looked at sinopia staging data and found that there is less useful data in there than there is in Sinopia prod. Will look a little more but expect that the best way forward is to create some examples in Sinopia that demonstrate the desired links

    • Huda added more data to the report but will finish off early next week
    • Two interesting articles:
      • LINK HERE 2008 FRBR overview cites motivations that closely align with our sense of giving the user a better picture of relationships between search results; also relationships between physical and electronic resources
      • LINK HERE Comparison of LRM and BIBFRAME, talks about user research but didn't actually do any user testing
    • Steven has noted discussion of whether BIBFRAME can represent expression information of FRBR/LRM - conclusion that it can with hasExpression
    • Worked on IMDB example

  • 2022-04-22 - On Tuesday will try to reverse engineer the future depicted in Astrid's chalet pictures. May 10 will have U Ghent

Linked-Data Authority Support (WP2)

• Qa Sinopia Collaboration
  • 2022-04-29 - met with Dave and Steven to strategize approach to remaining open issues.  Most of the high priority requests are in Dave's area (e.g. Current Focus board: total results for pagination, bug that includes results from outside authorities, documenting search syntax).  Lower priority requests on Dave's list are very unlikely to get done before he is fully retired end of June (e.g. Infrastructure board: left anchor browsing, type ahead, results in alphabetical order).  And authority requests that also likely won't get done (e.g. Authority board: OLAC, include context across Getty vocabs, ORCID, )
• Best Practices for Authoritative Data working group (focus on Change Management) 
  • 2022-04-29 - It would be nice if I could get a final-ish report done that contains all the information, perhaps a bit rough around the edges.  My intention is to focus my priorities on the switch to QaServer and release of Exhibits over Spotlight 3.0.  It is possible those will be done by end of next week.  If so, I will have some time to see if I can get this to a reasonably functional place.
• Containerization 
  • 2022-04-22
    • Containerizing the QaServer
      • Everything is ready for the switch.  Two tasks to make the final switch.  The database for the current production system needs to be copied to the container's database.  Then just switch of the namespace.
    • Containerizing the Cache Indices
      • Greg got started on a Terraform basis but not too far
• How do we pause authority work?
  • What do we need to keep the lights on?
  • What will restart look like?
