Purpose
The PCC Sinopia Cataloging Affinity Group provides a welcoming, collaborative, and supportive space to learn and discuss cataloging in Sinopia using PCC Sinopia Templates, PCC cataloging standards, and PCC authoritative vocabularies. The group aims to:
- Expand the use of Sinopia in the PCC community, contributing to the development of a body of original cataloging in a linked data context
- Influence the future development of Sinopia by coordinating feedback from PCC users to the Sinopia development team, and by serving as a community of users for usability interviews and testing
- Provide input on the creation and evolution of PCC Sinopia Templates
- Identify training needs of new PCC Sinopia Users
- Explore how to cooperate effectively in a linked data cataloging environment

Nancy Lorimer (Stanford) will give a talk about the intersection of Sinopia, BIBFRAME, and RDA/LRM: points of convergence and divergence. Nancy has asked folks to submit questions about this topic ahead of time in the meeting notes document: there is a section under the heading for the meeting on 28 October.
- 18 November 2021, 1PM-2PM (Eastern US) (Time zone converter). Registration link. Michelle Futornick (Sinopia Product Owner, Stanford University) will discuss the history of Sinopia and LD4. Melanie Wacker (PCC Chair, Columbia University) will cover the history of the PCC's involvement with Sinopia and LD4.
- 16 December 2021, 1PM-2PM (Eastern US) (Time zone converter). Registration link. Larisa Walsh (University of Chicago) and Patricia Thurston (Yale University), current co-chairs of the LD4 Non-Latin Scripts Affinity Group, will offer a presentation and demonstration of best practices for entering non-Latin script data into Sinopia descriptions.

- LD4 2021 Conference Session Sinopia in the PCC Context: Intro and Study Group (LD4 conference registration required, but is free of charge. Details at the link)
- This session will serve as the first meeting of the PCC Sinopia Cataloging Affinity Group. Designed for PCC catalogers working in Sinopia, the session will introduce attendees to the use of PCC profiles and standards in Sinopia and to allow time to practice and review creating descrip tions with the PCC profiles and following PCC standards. The session will begin with an overview of the available resources including training modules and the newly founded Affinity Group. Prior to the session, we will provide sample practice material that can be reviewed in the session and also will provide a starting point for any questions regarding PCC profiles and PCC standards within Sinopia.
