Background

The Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) wants to use VIVO in Canadian-French in its business objectives, particularly in terms of human resources, to better manage academic expertise, in particular by visualizing it through the expertise mapping, and also to achieve specific communication objectives.

Given the French context, UQAM joins VIVO's i18n internationalization initiative by making a contribution to French-Canadian internationalization, which is divided into three objectives.

Initiative objectives

  1. Using VIVO in a French or English linguistic context of the user's choice.
  2. Inspired by the work already done for German, translate into French-Canadian all the different files: ontologies, properties and ftl documents necessary for the presentation of the forms and data.
  3. Perform the necessary modifications to the Java code in order to provide users with the interfaces of francized editions that take into account the linguistic context chosen by the user when editing the data.

First Sprint Objectives

  1. Enable language-aware editing
  2. Ensure UI remains free of regression errors
  3. Establish pattern for adding new languages
  4. Create/Update system administrator documentation
