•    An ambitious free index that pulls together databases of publication sources, author information and research topics has been launched. The index, called OpenAlex after the ancient Library of Alexandria, aims to chart connections between these data points to create a comprehensive, interlinked view of the global research system, say its founders. The database, which launched on 3 January, is a replacement for Microsoft Academic Graph (MAG), a free alternative to subscription-based platforms such as Scopus, Dimensions and Web of Science. MAG was discontinued at the end of 2021.

In order to organize a VIVO track at the euroCRIS conference, we should move forward and announce it to the community.  We will send an email like the one you have below. For sure, I have made some mistakes, so, if you agree, can you review it in order to send asap? If you have any other idea about that, please feel free to tell it. Subject: “Call for proposals for the VIVO track at the euroCRIS Conference”
As you maybe know, next May 12-14, 2022, the 15th International Conference on Current Research Information Systems (CRIS2022) will be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia (if the pandemic situation allows it).
The general theme of the conference is “Linking research information across data spaces”, emphasizing the need for using the ever more widespread CRIS implementation to ensure smooth and effective mechanisms for research information exchange and aggregation. From Open Science implementation to business intelligence through research assessment, such interoperability mechanisms offer opportunities to improve the research information management processes in many different domains.
In this conference it will be a specific VIVO track where members of our community will be able to make presentations related to VIVO topics. That is why we invite you to send us your presentation proposals so that we can organize this space dedicated to VIVO within the euroCRIS conference.
We encourage you to submit your proposals through VIVO so that we can do them all together. You can also submit your proposal to euroCRIS call for papers, but then tell us if you want to present within the VIVO track.
Conference topics include but are not limited to:

  • The possible role and integration of CRIS as supporting information resources for research data infrastructures such as the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) initiative
  • Best practices in system interoperability and research information exchange at a regional or a national level
  • Research Information infrastructures on a national and international level
  • The significance of CRISs for the promotion and realization of FAIR and Open Science
  • The use and implementation of standards in CRIS: identifiers, formats, semantics, (controlled) vocabularies
  • Use cases in the application of CERIF
  • The use of CRIS in the field of research data management
  • Semantic approaches, data mining and profiling in the interpretation of research information
  • The (worldwide) uptake of CRIS Systems by various stakeholders
  • Linked Open Data for research information
  • Enabling and supporting research cooperation through CRIS
  • Value, impact and outcomes of universities
  • CV or portfolio exposure and profiling of researchers
  • The role of CRIS in support of Plan S and transforming Scholarly Communications
  • The role of CRIS in support of the responsible use of research metrics: analytics and quantitative measurement in research information systems
  • Output and performance: trends in research assessment, rankings and benchmarking

Please reply this email to send your proposals with you name, organization, proposal title and proposal abstract (250 words) or, if you submit your proposal to euroCRIS and wants to present within the VIVO track, tell us the name, organization and proposal title and we will contact euroCRIS and with you.
