  • Apps & Tools Working Group: next call January 27 February 24th at 1pm ET

    • Changing to a new format to lower the cost of sharing: instead of a single presentation, will be hosting multiple short talks per call of 7 to 10 minutes plus some time for questions

  • Ontology Working Group: next call February 10 at 1pm ET

  • 2015 VIVO Implementation Fest: to be hosted March 16-17 (with optional activity extended working meetings on 18th) by Oregon Health and Science University in Portland

  • The Boston Area MarkLogic User’s Group is having a Semantics in Theory and Practice event in Waltham, MA from 5:30-7:30 pm on Tuesday, January 27th and would like to get maximum exposure

    • MarkLogic is a company that has relatively recently started offering triple store technologies to complement XML and NoSQL

    • MarkLogic triple store technology is being used by the Library of Congress and other large organizations

    • There will be 2 presenters:

      • Stephen Buxton, Product Manager for Search and Semantics at Marklogic, leads us in a high-level conversation on semantic triples, what they can do, how they work with other data types and how that might impact your organization.

      • Beverly Jamison, Sr. Director of IT Architecture at American Psychological Association (and a colleague of Hal Warren), to discuss industry-specific semantics issues, how her organization uses semantics and the process of getting where they are today
