With so many different Linux distros, package installers, and lines of thought it is impossible to describe them all.

• For this setup I have settled on the following for this Development VM
  • CentOS 7.7 (Server with GUI option)
    • Why CentOS 7 and not CentOS 8?
      • CentOS 7 is proven and stable.
  • Host - Hyper-V on Windows 10 1909
  • Started from OS ISO - CentOS-7-x86_64-Everything-1908.isoWhy CentOS 7 and not CentOS 8?CentOS 7 is proven and stable.

• One other thing about this setup is that I set a requirement that all software installed must be from a maintained repo and that I can use "yum update" or on the GUI side Software/Software Update.  The only exception is the VIVO/Vitro software.
