Conference Venue (German version below)

The University of Bamberg does not have a single campus instead it is spread all over the city with 50 different locations. Many departments are in historical buildings in the old town; the human sciences faculty is located in the former women’s clinic at the Markusplatz. Nearby at Markusstraße 8a, a new complex of auditorium and institutional buildings was built in recent years. (Internal short-name: MG1 and MG2) The Dspace-user conference 2019 will be held at these buildings and we are looking forward to welcoming you here.

Getting here

By train

You can plan your individual journey to Bamberg using the Booking portal from Deutsche Bahn. Your arrival station will be Bamberg.

From Bamberg main station buses travel at frequent intervals to the central bus station (“ZOB”). After leaving the main station keep to the right and use the bus station on the other side of the street. From the ZOB, you can reach Markusstraße by feet in ca. 6 minutes or by taking the bus (lines: 906, 910, 916): Timetable information and bus lines Bamberg

By car

Bamberg is multiply connected to the German Autobahn.
From east to west the A70 passes Bamberg which is connected to the A3 (Cologne – Passau).
From north to south the A73 passes Bamberg which is connected to the A7 (Flensburg – Füssen) and the A9 (Berlin – Munich).

Please note that the university buildings in the city center do not offer parking spaces for cars.

Staying in Bamberg

You can book accommodation for your stay at the Tourism & Congress Service (www.bamberg.info/hotels-ferienwohnungen) or by using the familiar booking websites. Hotels in the city center are best suited for your stay as the conference location is within walking distance from these. Additionally, there is a newly opened IBIS Budget hotel next to the train stationT (German version below)

Die Universität Bamberg ist keine Campusuni am Rande der Stadt, sondern an über 50 Standorten gelebter Teil des Welterbes. Viele Einrichtungen sind in historischen Gebäuden der Altstadt untergebracht, so auch die Fakultät Humanwissenschaften in der einstigen Frauenklinik am Markusplatz. Direkt angrenzend entstand in der Markusstraße 8a in jüngster Zeit ein neu gebauter Komplex von Hörsaal- und Institutsgebäuden (interne Kürzel MG1 und MG2), in dem wir Sie zum DSpace-Anwendertreffen 2019 herzlich begrüßen dürfen.
