Announcements

  • new WG member: Randy Wilson of FamilySearch

t: Randy is a software architect at FS, one of the initial ARK implementors; currently leading the AI effort
j: Randy, please look for email invites to 2 ARKA googlegroups
rw: I believe I've already accepted
j: I made a few stabs at converting confluence wiki pages to github markdown using various tools that operate on XML dumps, but they seem to be flaky and sensitive to changing Confluence export formats (eg, they took a long time to complete and created nothing by empty files); I finally had some success with a tool that operated instead on an HTML export
j: Karen, would you still be able to help look over wiki page conversion?
k: yes
rm: I volunteered to work on persistence statements but am behind after getting caught up in some DPC work I volunteered for

Any news items we should blog about? Any calls for papers, submission deadlines, upcoming meetings we should note? Please add to Calendar of events.

d: AGU in December, has a PID session and is still open for submissions until end of month

N2T/arks.org resolver status

  • open source license MIT?

d: June 24 upgrade went well, some minor updates to come that shouldn't destabilize anything
d: there were a couple of anomalies related to EZID that will require CDL to manually edit the NAAN registry (eg, shadow ARKs that escaped into the wild)
j: looks like all the GH repos appear under the MIT license except arksorg
d: I'll fix that ACTION
j: how do we let CDL know about bugs and request fixes
d: best for now is to contact me (Dave Vieglais) directly or add an isssue to the relevant github repo

status of new process for updating documents on static website (arks.org)

j: status of the release tagging mechanism we discussed in a previous meeting?
d: the procedure to make changes on arks.org for now is clone the repo, make changes to the main branch, and when ready merge them into the arks.org repo; polling once an hour, arks.org is rebuilt when it detects changes to the main branch
j: redirect-from /blog not working as synonym for /news
d: good to add that as an issue to https://github.com/arks-org/arks.github.io/issues

Action items

  •  Dave will see about MIT license for arks.org repo
  •  John will add issue about missing redirects for blog->news
