Small Archives Use Cases

This is an area where people can describe their systems for managing and delivering digital information from Small Archives. There are many people in the community that can benefit from your exprerience, so please feel free to add a link on this page to either an existing page somewhere else that describes your project, or to another page you create on this wiki. It is particularly good to describe both what you like about your system and what you would change if you could.

Jewish Women's Archive & "Bella"

(after Bella Abzug, she of the "big fedoras")

Here is a paper presented at Museums on the Web, spring 2009, Indianapolis, IN, USA, by Ari Davidow:

Wiki Markup
"At last fall's [MCN conference|http://www.mcn.edu/conferences/index.asp?subkey=2095], and again at [Museums on the Web|http://www.archimuse.com/mw2009/abstracts/prg_335001962.html] this spring, I spoke about work that the [Jewish Women's Archive|http://jwa.org/] is doing to set up its own repository using open source software. The basic repository we built uses [Fedora|http://www.fedora.info/] with the lightest interface imaginable ([ActiveFedora|http://projects.mediashelf.us/projects/show/active-fedora])\--all we could afford on our own{-}{-}and is hosted by Amazon's Web Services-\-the least expensive hosting option we could conceive. It has worked well for us so far, although we are really ready to figure out the next steps." \[from a blog post on [Musematic.net|http://musematic.net/?p=666] \]
