Islandora supports batch modification of objects in a collection from one content model to another. This tutorial will walk you through the steps for changing which content model a group of objects in a collection is using.

In this example, we will be taking a collection full of images using the Basic Image Solution Pack and changing their content models to use the Large Image Solution Pack.

1. Navigate to the collection and click on the 'Manage' tab

  1. The first drop-down menu lists every content model currently in use by objects in the collection. Select the content model matching the objects you would like to modify - in this example, we are choosing the Basic Image Solution Pack model.
  2. The second drop-down menu lists all content models currently installed in Islandora. Select the content model that you would like to modify the objects to use.
  3. Click the 'Change content model associations' button to finalize the changes. You will be presented with a message at the top of the screen stating that the change was successful, and the number of objects that were changed:

Info

After making changes to objects' content models, you may want to visit the Collection Policy manager to check that your collection's new policy has the correct namespace set up. Check the tutorial How to Manage Collection Policies for more information on this.
