Development calls provide a weekly opportunity to hear updates from the 3 development teams developers on the VIVO project as well as other implementing sites. Calls typically focus on technical rather than policy issues but involve both web developers, programmers, site admins, and interested adopters interested in how VIVO works and where the development is heading.

Development calls are open to all comers but typically use GoToMeeting under a license that limits the number of connections to 15. If you find you are unable to join the call, please send a message via the [development mailing list] or the vivoweb.org contact form.everyone, and the traditional 2 pm Eastern time bi-weekly implementation calls will combine with the 1 pm Eastern time development calls as of Thursday, December 13, 2012.

Upcoming technical presentations in 2013

Beginning in 2013 a series of additional special presentations on technical topics by people in the VIVO community and/or guest speakers will be scheduled either during the regular Thursday time slot or at other times that will be announced approximately one week in advance.

Proposed topics include:

  • Data ingest for VIVO using Karma – February 7
  • Effective use of Git
  • Extending VIVO's search functionality
  • OpenSocial and Open Researcher Networking Gadgets
  • Using the three-tiered build (Vitro + VIVO + local customizations)

Schedule

Beginning September 22 2011, meetings will be held Thursdays at 1 pm Eastern time.
