Release Numbering Scheme
As of 2012, DSpace has moved to a new release numbering scheme/format.
Release Numbering Scheme: [major].[minor]
(e.g. 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 6.0)
- Major Releases: incrementing the first number ('major') will represent a new MAJOR release of DSpace. A major release may include any or all of the following: new features, system improvements, architectural changes, bug fixes. All major releases end in ".0", so "5.0", "6.0", and "7.0" would all represent major releases.
- Minor (Bug-Fix) Releases: incrementing the second number ('minor') will represent a new MINOR release of DSpace. A minor release will only include bug fixes to an existing major release. For example, "5.1" and "5.2" would represent two minor releases which only include bug fixes to the "5.0" major release.
Release Support Policies
DSpace Committers provide the following support for existing and past releases of the DSpace Software platform
- Security Updates: Provided for the most recent three (3) major releases of the platform.
- Bug Fixes / Patchs: Only provided for the most recent major release of the platform.
Much more information (including how to report security issues or bugs) can be found in our DSpace Software Support Policy.
