Pronounce/Read selected words in ebooks 

Integrate Talkback and Voice over Text to Speech into contextual menus so as to allow users to select text to read aloud.

  • As a user I want to select a word I don't know how to pronounce and have SimplyE pronounce it.
  • As a user I want to select some text and have SimplyE read it aloud.
  
Support for side-loading content into SimplyE The goal of this feature is to support a readers desire to read content in SimplyE that is distributed through another means such as file download via a website onto a device. Assumption: Non DRM content  
Integrate and implement the HyRead eBook service into SimplyECirculation Manager

Find borrow and read content from HyRead.

This body of work consists of the design architecture and development tasks required to implement the HyRead ebook service for NYPL. Namely it will consist of the development of a service gateway into the HyRead API in the Circulation Manager. This content provider support will be made available to other libraries as a configuration in the server.

Unknowns:
DRM regime to be used (LCP or DRM)
Possible Dependencies: PDF content support for fixed layout publications often used for Chinese language content.

Other needs will be localization of catalog for discovery and localization of the mobile Apps.
