Dear PCC colleagues,
This is the first in a series of updates from the PCC Chair for this fiscal year. The Chair will provide news and updates to the PCC list at the end of each quarter: November/December, February/March, May, and August.
Here are some highlights of what has been happening over the last three months:
- PCC Policy Committee Annual Meeting: The meeting was held at the Library of Congress on November 7-8, 2024. All presentations and reports are available in the agenda, and the outcomes document will be published soon.
- Linked Data Tactical Planning Meeting: This meeting took place at the Library of Congress in November 6, 2024. The agenda is available now, and the outcomes document will be published soon.
- SCA Task Group on BIBFRAME to MARC Conversion: The group submitted its final report on November 1, 2024.
- SCS Task Group on Provider Neutral MARC Record Guidelines for Electronic Monographs in Official RDA: This group was officially charged on September 12, 2024.
- SCS Task Group on Evaluation Guidelines for Non-Latin Script References in Name Authority Records: The group submitted their final report to SCS for review.
- PCC Task Group on Organization of PCC Documentation: The preliminary report was submitted on October 15, 2024.
- SCT RDA Training Task Group: Name Authorities: A call for volunteers was issued, and the task group will be officially charged soon
- The SCT Completed systematic review of official RDA Toolkit elements to identify possible changes in practice from original RDA.
- The SCT is developing outline and drafting slides for bridge training, with a particular focus on changes in PCC practice from original RDA to official RDA.
- Updated PCC Governance Document: The updated document was published on October 23, 2024.
- CONSER Cataloging Forum: The forum was held virtually on November 5, 2024. Additional upcoming PCC events can be found on the PCC Calendar.
- February Participants Meeting: PCC is busy planning the February Participants meeting. The announcement for the meeting with agenda will be coming soon.
- PCC Event(s) at ALA: It is a great pleasure to announce that OCLC has generously agreed to support PCC events at ALA 2025. Planning for in-person events is currently underway, and details will be shared as they become available.
- Standing Committee on Membership and Programming: The Committee is seeking its members. If you are interested in contributing, please submit your interest via the PCC question, feedback and volunteer form.
