Linked-Data Authority Support (WP2)

Discovery (WP3)

  • https://github.com/LD4P/discovery/projects/2 for issues etc.
  • Research: how to go from knowledge graph to an index
  • BANG! (Bibliographic Aspects Newly GUI'd)
    • Jamboard link
    • Expect to include Works. Need to do something beyond what we already have live from the OCLC concordance data.
    • References/bibliography list (beginning)
    • BANG! preliminary design-ish/data questions link
    • 2022-06-30
    • 2022-07-07
      • Steven has been attending some usability tests
      • Huda has done 4 usability tests so far and 4 more to come. Have been working with prototype and catalog, Dune based tasks. Takeaways so far have been that information prototype is understandable, "explore related items" page also being found and understood, people tend to look to left column first. Users not necessarily finding link to item page quickly, and not sure what contents will be. With catalog it is not surprising that sequels are not easy to find
      • Huda has been working with Frances to understand how to make atomic updates to our version of that catalog for testing. Have run into some issues with cache/lazy load issues in Solr 8
      • Huda still waiting for feedback on report on bibliographic sources, also shared draft with Jim Hahn
    • 2022-07-21
      • Usability tests completed before LD4 Conference.  Seven in total. Presented on high level findings but should have final report done next week.
      • Next steps:
        • See if there are updates we want to implement in the prototype/some additional modeling for the prototype demo video.
        • In conjunction with that work, will look at Solr configuration issue (atomic updates without restarting server each time) & if there are additional things we want to model
        • Assess what we can/should share with D&A - maybe findings without next steps since this work relies on data we do not currently have
        • Sort out what next phase can/should be
        • Better use of FAST data?
  • DAG Calls
    • No updates, reconvening regular calls 7/19
    • 7/19: Presented on BANG! data analysis.
    • Consider for Fall - entity management discussion

Other Topics

  • KULA: the lost paper
  • Catalogers working on LD4P effort(s), namely around music
    • Sort out next steps
  • POD & SHARE-VDE... should this team interact with that re: use cases, data analysis or other?
  • Sinolio - Sinopia-FOLIO
    • Possibly next work cycle toward end 2022
  • Authorities in FOLIO
    • 2022-06-03 Meet every two. weeks. Frances has been busy with POD/ReShare work. LTS have a set of use cases to discuss with Frances in the context of the Solr index and API she is creating
    • 2022-07-21:
      • Breakthrough this week! Frances processing Peter Ward files weekly; sharing report from LC, strategizing how to convert JSON to spreadsheets for Mary to work; productive and identifying improvements. Soon can start doing authority maintenance through this process.
      • Discussed FAST maintenance strategy going forward... agree we need to do it but outstanding questions persist. Agree that should use OCLC change report. Assuming FOLIO works on better overlay strategy, considering pulling from OCLC. For records where we only have FAST, interested in pulling in LCSH
  • BIBFRAME Interoperability Group (BIG) - Steven Cornell rep and Jason alternate
    • First meeting on 2022-07-21

Upcoming meetings/presentations

  • WOLFcon
    • Jason facilitating discussion on entity management, including integrating external services like QA
      • JAK & SF meeting with Gloria Gonzalez next week to better understand EBSCO intentions around entity management in FOLIO
    • Simeon attending (talking about ARLEF and German library collabs, not LD4P)
  • SWIB (virtual) - submissions due 27 June 11 July
    • Data provenance and transparency in UI
  • BF Europe (Budapest)
  • LD4P Fall meeting
    • Date not fixed yet, looking at weeks of Nov 7 or Nov 14
