  • NSF funded web platform, for data sharing/publishing
  • Data gathered from experiments and natural events/disasters
  • Data Depot, mix of private and public/published datasets
  • Fedora is the preservation storage back end, with elasticsearch as search layer
  • JSON files with checksums stored in Fedora, which hold file paths to the original files, but files themselves not directly managed by Fedora
  • Number of files within projects could be in the 100k range, would time out when trying to do operations on these, like delete them after test deposits
    
    • No built in methods for recursively pulling the RDF of entire trees
  • Would like to use bags for exports of data
    
    • Mike Ritter has done some existing work in this area
  • Discussion of features in fedora 5/6 that could be helpful for improving some identified problem areas:
    • OCFL
    • external content, could allow for keeping current file arrangement in storage system, but binary content would not be stored in OCFL
    • transaction API, what it is, changes between Fedora 5 and 6
    • multi-member problem/resolution,
    • messaging queues for triggering actions based on updates in fedora
