Julie AllinsonUniversity of YorkDigital Library Manager

Hello, I am Julie Allinson from the University of York in the UK where I manage Digital York, the Library and Archives IT section. We have been using Fedora with a custom front-end since 2009 for the 'York Digital Library', our multimedia repository. The Digital Library contains many thousands of resources, including digitised material from Special Collections and Archives, music recordings from the York Sound Archives, academic slide collections, University past exam papers and student dissertations. As of this year we are migrating to the Hydra framework and are currently working on a Hydra-based interface for displaying and indexing York's Archbishops' Registers. In this project we are learning about Hydra and Fedora 4 simultaneously and will use this knowledge when we come to migrate our Fedora 3 repository over the next two years. My background is in libraries and archives where I have particularly focussed on the promotion and discovery of digital resources. I love the Web and am excited by the possibilities of Linked Data and I am keen to explore and exploit the benefits of Fedora 4.

I would like to join the Steering Group as it is a fantastic chance for me to learn more about Fedora and to influence it's future direction. I would also like to represent the needs of smaller institutions and those in the UK and Europe.

Stefano CossuThe Art Institute of ChicagoDirector of Application Services, Collections

Stefano Cossu is Director of Application Services at The Art Institute of Chicago where he is coordinating the LAKE project, a distributed DAM architecture with Fedora at its center. The AIC, one of the very few museums using Fedora, has so far proposed and supported several initiatives within the Fedora 4 development aimed at increasing flexibility, expandability and integration.

Stefano is committed to expanding and diversifying the Fedora user base. He believes that, as the boundaries between cultural heritage institutions become less rigid, all these sectors can benefit greatly from the features Fedora can offer.

Declan FlemingUniversity of California, San DiegoChief Technology Strategist and Director of ITSI’m the Chief Technology Strategist and Director of ITS at the University of California, San Diego Library.  Our team has worked on digital asset management systems for over a decade, and we’ve contributed significantly to Fedora 4.  I am very interested in joining the Fedora Steering Group to continue the work I’ve done on the Leadership group and to stay directly tied to the growth and maturation of Fedora.
Susan LaffertyUniversity of New South WalesDirector, Digital Library Services

I am currently Director, Digital Library Services at UNSW Australia. My team has been involved in some of the development sprints for Fedora 4. We have also completed a test migration from Fedora 3 to 4, and are in the process of building a green fields Fedora 4 site. With David Wilcox I have established the Australasian Fedora User Group, and I am currently contacting Fedora sites in Australia and New Zealand to encourage them to join DuraSpace. I am keen to join the Steering Group to contribute to the continuing development of Fedora, the sustainability of DuraSpace overall and to bring an Australasian perspective to our future.

In October I will leave UNSW to take up the position of Associate Library Director (Resources and Access) at the Australian Catholic University. While this is not a DuraSpace site, I have an agreement with my new employer that I can continue my work with Fedora/DuraSpace, including being on the Steering Group, should I be elected.

Tom MurphyICPSR, University of MichiganDirector, Computing & Network ServicesI have a deep background in IT Services, Software and Delivery. As an architect for various business systems I have devised systems that are still in operation today in various industries. My product management background allow me to understand the domain areas of the market and translate those into long term direction and purpose for the product. My current role as the Director of Computing and Network Services for ICPSR, has allowed my to drive the implementation and eventual transformation of the various archives towards Fedora 4. My desire to see Fedora as the gold choice for repository platforms is as strong as my desire to grow the reputation of ICPSR's gold standard for curation and archival strategies.
