The SynSICRIS tool has been developed for use in project management and research funding processes. It was therefore necessary to implement a project-related rights model. This enables project teams to collaborate on impact planning and comprehensive documentation of project implementation. In the context of a project, roles can be assigned to coordinators, members and readers.

Furthermore, each project partner team is provided with a dedicated workspace, which can be configured as either open or closed to members of other project partners. In a closed project, other consortium members are unable to view the text fields of the exploitation plan or interim report. However, the exploitation plan and interim report can be enhanced with items (which means they can be "pinned" to a specific question). These items are always shared by all members of the consortium, as they may also be used for the shared impact pathway and work plan. The objective of this role model is to foster close collaboration between project partners in terms of content and reduce the documentation burden. At the same time, it addresses the diverse needs for cooperation within the project.

There are also three roles for funding agencies, which can be assigned on a programme-specific basis: programme management, project supervisors/referees and reader role in the programme. Programme management assigns rights for all other roles within a programme.
