Web Admin Pre-3.2 Release UI Preview

This page is available for historical purposes. More up-to-date information about the Web Administrator can be found in the Fedora 3.2 documentation

The new web-based Fedora Administrator client is a flash/flex based utility which runs in a web browser and uses the Fedora REST-API to perform administrative functions on a deployed Fedora repository.

Logging in to the web admin. After you connect to a repository the browser will prompt for authentication credentials (username/password).

After connecting to a repository. The menu on the left allows you to open an object via PID, create an empty object, or import an object using any of the supported format types.

Opening an object adds a tab for that object. In that tab the object's properties and datasteams are listed. A datastream is selected for viewing by clicking on the row in the datastream table.

Selecting a datastream will pop up a dialog with information about the datastream.

Image content can be displayed directly in the datastream viewer by selecting the View Content button.

Text content, including XML, can be displayed, edited, and saved directly in the datastream viewer.

Content for Inline XML and Managed datastreams can be replaced using a local file or a URL.

A new datastream can be added by selecting the Add Datastream button. The options for providing datastream content changes based on the Control Group selected.

Selecting Search in the left-hand menu allows searching for a term. Fields can be selected to appear in the search results. A search opens a tab to display results. Selecting a row in the search results will open the object selected in a new tab.

  1. It's looking very nice! Can't wait to have a play once 3.2 becomes available.

Btw, are there any plans to add an 'Order by' option to the Search? I realise that's an addition to the REST API but would make the admin tool really flash!

    Cheers!

    1. As a starting point, the current implementation allows you to sort each page of results by any of the fields you choose to include in the result set. You're right in that a change to the REST API would be needed to allow ordering/sorting of the full result set, but I can certainly see how that would be useful. I'll add it to the list of items for us to consider in the next version.

      Thanks for the suggestion.
