Notes

  1. Announcements:
    1. Fedora Camp to be hosted by U. of Vienna, Sep. 10-12.  Conference style setting, there will be a fee.  PHAIDRA and others to be in attendance.
    2. Intro to Fedora workshop next week, Tuesday 12-2 Eastern.  Newcomers and veterans welcome.
    3. Open Repositories conference in Chicago, June 15-18.  Arran and Dan to be in attendance, will present twice - in repository rodeo session and in Fedora User Group. Fedora User Group meeting will be June 18, 1:30 - 5:00, after main conference ends at lunchtime.

    2. John Gostick, Cambridge - Camel toolbox was changed from LDPath to xslt.  How to proceed?  Dan - extend default xslt.  Can also specify a different xslt per object.  LDPath no longer supported, now removed.

      1. migration utils dry run - agreed it is probably a good idea but will be a while
      2. IAM role - Rebuilt with updated jar file and it worked. We probably need to look into this for main project.  Google tag for S3 bucket.  A ticket has been created.
      3. xbow - We installed the PVE feature, but we haven't seen anything new from them since
    4. Demian, thumbnails in fedora which change sometimes. Delete, then tombstone. Use Header of Overwrite tombstone, should be able to overwrite
      1. Github Vulnerability Disclosure Module was not turned on.  They wanted to report a vulnerability in F6.  Dan installed this module.  We haven't heard from Github since, nothing to do for now.  Could have been a bot.
    5. Tagged Docker Images for fcrepo-camel-toolbox version 6.2.0 and 6.2.1 are missing on Docker Hub:
      https://hub.docker.com/r/fcrepo/fcrepo-camel-toolbox/tags .  Thomas - don't have a docker image for this.  Has not been done yet, ticket has dropped off radar.  Maybe just need to add a trigger to initiate the docker build.  Appears to be just an issue for camel toolbox.

    6. Sprint development and management
      1. Arran - should we add a section to tech meeting to review depenedency project update board?  Dan - we have such a section but it was skipped today.  Could put it in the day to day stuff instead.
      2. Agreed to get test coverage to 80% per module before addressing dependency updates
      3. Board is at: https://github.com/orgs/fcrepo/projects/5/views/7 . Better way to make board understandable?  Dan - look at ready column.  This is work that is ready to be started.
      4. How to best get new developers set up with instructions, credentials, tasking?  Dan - shouldn't need credentials, will just submit PRs to an open source project.  Just need more documentation on what is to be done regarding test coverage work.  Using CodeCov reports.  Arran will update this info in the project README, guide for new developers.
      5. Dan - maybe add sprint inception step if we have a bunch of new developers or committers.
  3. Migration Updates:
    1. NLM now migrating from Fedora 3 to 6 and from on-prem to AWS.  Have everything working functionally, focused on scaling.  Have 6M objects.  Josh Badal presented on 70M object reindexing in October, using lessons from that.  Doron / Arran to follow up with Greg Ritter / AWS to see if a replacement for Josh has been identified.  Other interesting aspects of the NLM migration is that it will be hybrid, content originates and is pre-processed on-prem before moving to AWS.  Also, most content is still stored by reference even in Fedora 6, not by value.

        1. FCREPO-4011 - review PCDM doc - lots of F4 references to be changed, step by step instructions to be reviewed
        2. FCREPO-4010 - additional documentation requested on default files in empty storage root - doc request from spreadsheet.  
        3. FCREPO-4009 - run integration tests against postgres 17.  Thomas - should be easy to test and add metrics.  We should test against 17 since we test against other supported Postgres releases. 
          1. Dan - takes time to run builds now, have 20 variants.  Demian - any unsupported versions?  Possibly.  Need to weed out. Need to decide what versions we will support.
          2. Postgres 12 has dropped out, 13 will be dropped in 6 months.  May want to adjust where we build some of these versions - perhaps locally.
          3. Ben - many pull requests blocked for edge cases builds.  Address these cases after the build?  OK, but who will ensure these are built?  Don't need to try every Postgres against every Java against every OS.
        4. FCREPO-4008 - review data model examples to note if current.
        5. FCREPO-4007 - add curl examples to transactionm wiki doc page - can be done pretty easily
        6. FCREPO-4006 - add doc on optimizing ocfl
      2. FCREPO-4005 - add date in migration log.  Has time but not date.  should be easy
      3. FCREPO-3996 - maven plugin not maintained.  github deployment issue.  Will no longer deploy javadocs, but maintain existing.  Agreed to close ticket.
      4. FCREPO-3987 - Make FOXML checksum validation check optional in migration-utils.  Dan - for backlog
      5. FCREPO-3971 - DB connection timeout when replacing / creating non-rdf source in Fedora.  From Thomas.
      6. FCREPO-3970 - timeout when committing long running Fedora.  Related to 3971.  Same area - doing too much work when conn is open
      7. FCREPO-3962 - dependency updates - talked about earlier
      8. FCREPO-3931 - datastream file extensions option not working.  Will wait until after dependency upgrade

FCREPO-4004 - allow system predicates on non binary containers - Chris Colvar.  Ready for test?  Jared - PR exists.  We treat ebucore file name, mime type as sys managed prop in all things in upgrade-utils.  He would like to do so only for binaries, since they use those predicates in other objects.  Jared has not tried yet.
      2. FCREPO-4002 - Marked as ready for release.  Dan - if no one else can test, we can just merge it in.  In AWS.  Would be nice if someone familiar with AWS could test.
      3. FCREPO-3992 - incorrect serialization causes no error, but no upgrade.  Jared - anyone can look at.
