Thank you to our 2016 Members

The 2016 DuraSpace Membership Campaign closed at the end of October. By joining DuraSpace this year 159 members are now connected with the DSpace, Fedora and VIVO projects they depend on. DuraSpace members become open source project part-owners who actively help advance project goals by participating in project governance. Thank you to all our members for believing, as we do, in working together to provide enduring access to the world’s digital heritage forever.

Save the dates for the 2017 DuraSpace Member Summit, April 4-5, 2017

The 2017 DuraSpace Member Summit will be held on April 4-5 directly following the CNI Spring 2017 Meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Albuquerque, New Mexico, April 3-4. More information to follow in January.

• Report from Fedora Camp in NYC

A team of six expert instructors offered a three-day Fedora Camp at Columbia University in New York City. Participants learned about core features, external Integrations, data modeling and linked data, Hydra and Islandora, migrating to Fedora 4, and deploying Fedora 4 in production. Read more here.

This month the Hydra-In-A-Box team launched the Hydra-In-A-Box Update. The newsletter is a guide to news and information about community progress, plans, and pilots. • Institutional Treasures Preserved with DPN and DuraCloud Vault

The 60+ members of DPN have come together around a commitment to preserve vital scholarly, historic and cultural digital collections as the basis for a transformative understanding of how and why we are who we are as a nation far into the future using DuraCloud Vault. DPN is focused on developing tools and services to ensure that the cultural and research assets of today are available to scholars in the future. Numerous notable collections are now permanently preserved and will last beyond the life spans of individuals, technological systems, and organizations.
