Fedora needs to have a clear way to provide hot backup capabilities, without having to put the repository in read only mode. This goes hand in hand with the requirement of being able to rebuild and bring fedora back online in a more timely fashion.

    As of 4.0-Alpha-4, hot backups and repository rebuilds are supported, though there is currently no support for rebuilding an external search index or triplestore. There is a ticket for this work here.
