Linked-Data Authority Support (WP2)
- Qa Sinopia Collaboration – Support and evolve QA+cache instance for use with Sinopia
- 2021-07-30
- Stanford have a work cycle coming up in about a month. Three key issues:
- 1. OCLC direct vs cache need better alignment (requires changes to Sinopia's index and description) https://github.com/LD4P/sinopia_editor/issues/2125
- 2. non-RDF vocabularies – we don't think it would be reasonable to create fake URIs for language codes, LC BF editor solution of datatype property seems the right way to go https://github.com/LD4P/sinopia_editor/issues/2804
- 3. Documentation about search conventions https://github.com/LD4P/sinopia_editor/issues/1259
- Justin has been using QA in another project - noted relevancy and speed issues (but for large result sets). OCLC uses usage data (that we don't have) for relevancy
- Stanford have a work cycle coming up in about a month. Three key issues:
- 2021-07-30
- Best Practices for Authoritative Data working group (focus on Change Management)
- 2021-07-30 No meeting because of LD4, next is Monday Aug 2. Video from conference is Authoritative Data: User Stories and Change Management
- Cache Containerization Plan - Develop a sustainable solution that others can deploy
- 2021-07-16
- Greg has been getting ready for LD4 conference talk, will coordinate with Lynette
- How long before we can switch our lookup.ld4l.org service? Getting close, need to merge/test after the LD4 conference
- 2021-07-30
- Lynette and Greg working on this next week. Solidify instructions and search API for Dave's cache
- 2021-07-16
Discovery (WP3)
- https://github.com/LD4P/discovery/projects/2 for issues etc.
- Draft of a discovery plan: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zKYW7FQVVNvyd0XjjW0qWznX9PC3jbmOE6Kz_yygPjs/edit?usp=sharing
- Research: how to go from knowledge graph to an index
- DASH! (Displaying Authorities Seamlessly Here)
- Dashboard design meeting kickoff notes
- User reps D&A meeting: Expect next follow-up in August (Slides: from user reps meeting 2021-04-09 and result was "not no")
- Usability testing and followup for DASH: Usability results
- Usability results, a few little things to finish up
- GitHub issues
- 2021-07-30
- Tim was working on additional mockups (author pages that look more like the original subject page).
- Huda has been working through issues for more granular control over the knowledge panel data coming from the Cornell subject and author browse indices and some styling. Additionally, working on how too much info or none is handled in entity page (i.e. collapsing "see more" option for broader/narrower. Will be working on not showing map or timeline if no information to display on page).
- Game plan: Review progress with Tim when he is back. If ready to proceed, we will reach out to Adam regarding setting up a meeting with user reps. Also need to work with Greg to update environment variables on LD4P3 web server (will check if that's something I can do right now).
- BANG! (Bibliographic Aspects Newly GUI'd)
- Jamboard link
- Expect to include Works. Need to do something beyond what we already have live from the OCLC concordance data.
- 2021-07-30
- Huda worked more on DASH.
- Steven worked on lots of queries.
- SPARQL queries over Wikidata to find related works (loosely defined) based on connection via ISBN or LCCN
- Has been looking at motion pictures
- Huda did ask Dave if we could get the PCC ShareVDE dataset for local querying/visualization because Fuseki server doesn't come back quickly for more cross-dataset queries (e.g. provide all the work URIs related to other work URIs and the relationships between them). Dave said he'd compress the (~122 GB!!) data. Need to follow up and ask if that is done and to check if I have the space somewhere to put that data : ) These would be the normalized/cleaned up triples behind the Fuseki service.
- A few weeks ago, did reach out to Jesse and had a conversation regarding Table of Contents (TOC)/citations. No open TOC source. Syndetics has two different options: (a) an API for data that can be used for indexing but not for display and (b) information grabbed within the page to bring back information that could include Table of Contents. Mentioned OpenCitations as a possible source for citation information.
- We don't think that ToC data is a useful avenue to explore for this work (closed data. not linked data)
- Citations would be better but OpenCitations appears to be very article centric
- 2021-07-30
- DAG Calls
- 2021-06-25 Discussion on outputs from DAG calls, hope to get KP white paper completed over the summer, and then the "lord of the rings" (to bind them all) spreadsheet
- 2021-07-06 What to do during the conference? 7/20 canceled (because during conference)
