Version 3.1

A More Recent 3.x Release Exists: DSpace 3.2

We recommend DSpace 3.x users upgrade to DSpace 3.2 directly, rather than upgrading to 3.1.  The process to do so is documented at: DSpace Release 3.2 Notes

DSpace 3.1 was officially released to the public on January 30, 2013.

DSpace 3.1 can be downloaded immediately at either of the following locations:

We recommend DSpace 3.0 users upgrade to 3.1

Generally we recommend all DSpace 3.0 users upgrade to DSpace 3.1 to receive several bug fixes. However, if you decide that none of the bug fixes are relevant for you then there is no urgent case for upgrading.

However, it is worth noting that users who wish to run DSpace 3 with an Oracle database must upgrade to 3.1, as it resolves Oracle compatibility issues with DSpace 3.0.

Summary

DSpace 3.1 is a bug fix release to resolve any issues located within DSpace 3.0. As it only provides bug-fixes, DSpace 3.1 should constitute an easy upgrade from DSpace 3.0 for most users. No database changes or additional configuration changes should be necessary when upgrading from DSpace 3.0 to 3.1.

This small bug fix release addresses a number of issues that have cropped up since 3.0. These issues include:

  • Resolved Oracle Database compatibility issues in 3.0
  • Several bug fixes to the new OAI interface (introduced in 3.0)
  • Fixed the Discovery "More like this" feature (introduced in 3.0)
  • "Porting" of type-based submission feature (introduced in 3.0) to JSPUI
  • Other minor fixes / improvements (a detailed list of all changes can be found below)

For upgrade instructions for 3.0 to 3.1, please see Upgrading From 3.0 to 3.x.

No new features in DSpace 3.1

3.1 is a bug-fix only release. This means it includes no new features and only includes fixes for bugs which were found in the 3.0 release. It also contains some minor improvements to features introduced in DSpace 3.0.

For a list of all new 3.0 Features, please visit the DSpace Release 3.0 Notes.
