Dear PCC colleagues,
This is the first in a series of news updates to the PCC members from the PCC chair in this fiscal year. The Chair sends an update to the PCC list at the end of each quarter (November, February, May and August).
These are some of the things that have been happening during the last three months:
- The PCC Policy Committee Annual Meeting was held at the Library of Congress from November 3rd-4th, 2022. All the presentations and reports are available at the linked agenda and the outcomes document will be available soon.
- Please view upcoming PCC events on the PCC Calendar website: PCC Participants' Meeting (Virtual) on February 23, 12:30-2:00 pm (Eastern) and PCC Operations Committee Meeting on May 4-5. Mark your calendars and join us!
- PCC Strategic Planning session was held on November 2nd, 2022. We will share our draft strategic directions with the PCC community for discussion at the PCC Participants' Meeting (Virtual) on February 23, 2023.
- The PCC Policy Committee approved the Guidelines for the use of ISO 639-3 language codes in MARC records, prepared by the SCS (Standing Committee on Standards) Task Group on Developing Guidelines for Using ISO 639-3 Language Codes for Library Cataloging.
- The Standing Committee on Standards charged a new SCS Pilot Group on CONSER Policies and it’s approved by PoCo.
- The Standing Committee on Training charged a new Task Group on Linked Data Training and it’s approved by PoCo.
- The PoCo Task Group on MARC Simplification for BIBFRAME Conversion issued its Final Report.
- The SCA (Standing Committee on Applications) Task Group on Enhancing Metadata and Practices in MARC Bibliographic Records issued their preliminary report.
- The Standing Committee on Applications issued the Report on Non-Latin Script Cross Reference Coding Practice in NACO.
- The Share-VDE (SVDE) PCC Data Pool Data Evaluation Task Group was charged by the Standing Committee on Standards and Linked Data Advisory Committee and approved by PoCo.
- The BIBFRAME Interoperability Group (BIG) assisted in planning the Linked Data Summit (Nov. 7-9, 2022) hosted by the Library of Congress. Outcomes of the meetings will be posted when they become available.
