Dear PCC colleagues,

This is the second in a series of news updates to the PCC members from the PCC chair in this fiscal year. The Chair sends an update to the PCC list at the end of each quarter (November, February, May and August).

These are some of the things that have been happening during the last three months:

  1. The PCC Participants' Meeting (Virtual) was held on February 23, 2023. 2023-2027 strategic directions were presented to the PCC community and the PCC Task Group to Test the Official RDA Toolkit provided an update. Links to the recording and presentation slides have been added to agenda, which is also available on the PCC calendar website.      
  2. PCC DEI Principles for Metadata Creation, drafted by the Advisory Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, was approved by PoCo on January 18.  
  3. PCC DEIAC responses to LC response on “illegal aliens,” drafted by the Advisory Committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, was approved by PoCo on January 17. 
  4. Based on the PoCo Annual meeting decision to add the values and expand the candidate pool, the revised Nominating Committee Guidelines was approved on January 20; the revised Governance document and Guidelines for Elected Representatives to the PCC Policy Committee were approved on February 6.  
  5. The PCC Task Group on BIBFRAME-to-MARC Conversion was charged by the Standing Committee on Applications and approved by PoCo on February 7.  
  6. The PCC Documentation Survey Task Group charge was drafted by the Standing Committee of Training and Standing Committee on Standards and was approved by PoCo on February 15. 
  7. The revised charge of the Advisory Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion was approved by PoCo on December 9.  
  8. The Guidelines/Responsibilities of PCC Advisory Committees was revised and approved by PoCo on January 12. 
  9. The Share-VDE (SVDE) PCC Data Pool Data Evaluation Task Group issued the interim report. The group completed testing and shared testers’ feedback with the Share-VDE on January 31. The group is working on the final report which will be issued later.
  10. The BIBFRAME Interoperability Group (BIG) assisted in planning the Linked Data Summit (Nov. 7-9, 2022) hosted by the Library of Congress. The meeting summary document is posted.   
  11. The PCC Policy Committee Annual Meeting: the outcomes document is posted on the PCC website.
