Welcome

 - Welcome new/returning leaders on call and discussed potential on boarding "buddy" concept. This is tied to the second agenda item. Stefano could setup a spreadsheet to identify participants. Mark J suggested new members read minutes but then have access to a leader to discuss or ask questions.

Fedora Vision & Strategy

The Steering Group (SG) has leveraged templates supplied by Maurice York to conduct strategy work and are now ready for other people to join in sub group for each section identified.  Friday 13th is the last of the Leaders/Committers meetings. We discussed some feedback from one committer who felt topics were at SG level. We think the call should not differentiate between SG & Tech for these calls and want everyone joining to share their input. We could use a couple of approaches and perhaps we could be clearer about the objectives. Andrew pointed out that we have two kinds of meetings where we bring leaders and committers for the purpose of alignment, inclusivity, and valuable input.

Technical initiatives and priorities

API Specification is complete and announced. We still need a test suite, API alignment and two implementations. Andrew is confident that we will meet these goals. Danny reported great progress on the test suite and we expect a compatibility report from testing. Danny also emphasized that it should be much easier to contribute to the tests given the current suite development. There is alot of good documentation but that also needs review. The two week sprint efforts for September and October each have about 8 people signed up for contributions. The sprints will focus on the release of Fedora5 and the compatibility test suite. Danny is confident that these two deliverables will be realized. We have some work that Andrew thinks are of a much lower bar and do not require someone to understand the codebase. Islandora and Samvera leadership could assist in messaging and  strengthen tie to Fedora. Danny Lamb shared that CLAW will be released with Fedora regardless of release but felt confident that they are ready to go.  Talk on how to best engage with both communities to get commitment for Fedora5 implementation. We decided email to the list asking for help to coordinate the messaging and enrollment in the two communities. Doran sought confirmation for policies associated with implementations. Andrew suggested that we make sure that any given release of Fedora adhere to policy concerning versions of parts, backward compatibility and passing tests.
