When Steve submits his research to the DSpace repository, it automatically gathers relevant metadata. The repository collects this data from several other sources. Metadata that wasn't filled in by Steve that is available on other sources is immediately added to the research's metadata.

    This is partially addressed by the development Submission wizard proposed for inclusion in DSpace 7. When an identifier is available a fetch metadata option is presented to collect additional information from registered suitable datasource
