Notes
In attendance
Dan Field (Chair)
Thomas Bernhart
James Alexander
As we were thin on the ground, ticket updates were quite sparse. However, Jared has added notes to a couple of tickets and other things (see below).
Please do fill out the doodle poll.
Also please do add yourself to the Future of Fedora Technology Info Gathering Sessions as we need volunteers to attend as representatives of the Tech Team.
Open tickets -
FCREPO-3878 - Migrate DC datastream as RDF properties IN PROGRESS - Dan has fixed some internal issues
FCREPO-3875 - Document Archive Group Considerations for Fedora 6 OPEN - Dan has started work on this one
In progress -
FCREPO-3844 - Runtime filtering options for the Camel Toolbox reindexing service OPEN - (add limitations on indexing). Still waiting on a response from Quinn
FCREPO-3840 - Tickets to help us connect with the Fedora user base IN PROGRESS - Needs further discussion with more people present re Registry links
and banner (to be on by default). Some question over the length of the proposed header which will need to be truncated to fit as a header - could it go back to governance for further consideration? Comments on 3840 or 3841 appreciated! Some support for just leaving in the UI message.
Other options might include a startup message or a log message @ INFO level.
In Review
FCREPO-3867 - Dan will close
FCREPO-3841 - for discussion (see above)
FCREPO-3834 - comments welcome
FCREPO-3830 - see Jared's note below
Other topics
Release testing - Thomas hopes to do some more testing tomorrow (Friday 17th).
Code4Lib - good level interest in Fedora and discussion on Slack: both Stanford's migration away to OCFL and on Dan's migration for NLW. Continued interest in migration stores from Fedora3.
Next Meeting
Chair: Ben Pennell
Note Taker: James Alexander
See Rotating Schedule here
Pop/up Topics:
- OAI-PMH meeting, sign up to the cornucopia of choices and join the discussion.
- Future of Fedora Technology, also sign up to a much smaller set of choices for this discussion.
- Fedora Release, planned for Monday assuming no issues and none have been found yet.
Migration:
- Doron and NIH are moving systems to cloud, planning a 2 phase migration where they do the first migration of a smaller (4,000,000 object) repository locally to get their hands into the Fedora 6 and OCFL. Then move to the cloud for the second larger migration. They are doing the actual migration of data for all repositories in AWS and bringing back the migrated data to the local systems (for the first repository). This allows easier scaling.
- Discussion about Villenova's target plan to use AWS appliance to expose S3 as an NFS mount for local servers.
Tickets:
- FCREPO-3876 - Almost resolved, just a small change, PR shortly. Should circle back to Quinn and see how we can support their use cases as they are "all in" on Archival Groups.
- FCREPO-3830 - Jared will review/test again, Mike has one small change he is going to make to improve clarity of code.
