This is a working page for the in-progress SOURCE migration interface for Fedora.

Goals and Use Cases

Use Case #1: "I've installed Fedora. Now what do I do with it?"

  1. pulling from local system
    • Uploading directly from browser to Fedora (smaller files)
    • Pull from an ingest folder on the server (larger files, many files) – allows you to use any FTP/DAV/etc. tool to upload – JWA
    • Attempt to transform Zip files (and LoC Bags) into complex objects according to predefined "mappings" (ie. JWA Oral Histories) JWA
  2. pull from legacy system: intrallect, transforming content from IMS-CP into APP and saving both data streams

Timeline

The SOURCE tool is slated to be showcased in January 2009.

Technical Information

The tool is being built using RubyFedora and Ruby On Rails.

The user interface for our prototype is being implemented in Flex.

The SOURCE project is being funded by JISC and the University of London's Birkbeck Library and is being implemented by MediaShelf.
