The student application process can be competitive.  Last year, DSpace technology alone received about 30 applications, of which only 4 projects were awarded by Google. Yes, that is correct, we do not select how many students can ultimately win.  We only rank them according to the community's interest in mentoring the project. Many years it is as much a competition between the mentors as it is the students.
